"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective

leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a

sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across

clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even

matter."

Gilbert Amelio, former President and CEO of National Semiconductor Corp

My interpretation of this quote by Gilbert Amelio is that, to be a leader, you need to have good communication skills in order to get your point across to the audience in a clear and concise manner. If there is a failure across the message given, the audience will be lost and in turn, it is as equal as not giving out the message in the beginning. Thus, a good leader has to make sure he communicates well with everyone in the room and to make his statements as crisp as possible so that everyone is on the same page. If the message is not being driven across clearly and in an effective manner, confusion will certainly arise among the audience.

  1. Agreed with your thoughts, if the information delivered is unclear. Confusion is bound to arise. There is also a chance you might be misunderstood and misinterpreted.

  2. I agree with what you said, a good leader needs to know how to communicate well to everyone that is under his care so as to avoid unnecessary confusion or even frustration between the members.
