Summary / Reader Response Draft #2 In the article “A Critical Review of Emerging Technologies for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles”,  it  introduces the latest Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive electric motor system that is being utilized on the Tesla Model S Plaid electric vehicle  (Lee, Hua, Long, Jiang, & Iyer, 2021) . The function of an electric motor system is to propel an electric vehicle forward by using electricity. The Tesla “All-Wheel Drive” system uses independent front and rear motors (Tesla, n.d.) . The same article states that the system allows improvements in both capability and traction, thus enabling quick responses from the accelerator pedal. The Tesla “Tri Motor” configuration utilizes all four wheels with a total of three AC induction motors that is generated by a 407-volt lithium-ion battery pack (Owen, 2023). The motors are uniquely carbon-wrapped (Crider, 2021), and features an improved heat pump and thermal system (Dent, 2021). With the several enhanced features of t

With the several enhanced features of the “Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive, it is undeniably an improvement compared to the “Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive” motor that is utilized on the Tesla Model S. The “Tri Motor All-Wheel D
Summary Draft 1 In the article, "A Critical Review of Emerging Technologies for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles", it introduces the latest Tesla Model S Plaid which uses the "Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive" system (Lee, Hua, Long, Jiang, & Iyer, 2021).  The Tesla Model S “Plaid” redefines electric vehicles due to its powerful and enhanced electric motor system. The main function of an electric motor system is to propel an electric vehicle forward by using electricity. The Tesla “All-Wheel Drive” uses independent front and rear motors. This allows improvements in performance and traction, thus enabling quick responses from the accelerator pedal. The “Tri Motor” configuration utilizes all four wheels with a total of 3 AC induction motors that is powered by a 407-volt lithium-ion battery pack (Justin Owen, 2023). The 3 motors are carbon-wrapped. It allows the rotor to achieve higher RPM as the carbon sleeves mostly prevents the copper rotor from expanding due to radial ac

Research Pathway Kayden and I are grouped together for the reader response assignment. We tried to think of a specific topic to start our assignment. After various discussions, we decided that we wanted to focus on electric vehicles that runs on an electric motor rather than the conventional internal combustion engine. We first use ChatGPT v3.5 to gain an overview of how electric vehicles work, functions and features of it, and ultimately decided to choose this topic as we believe electric vehicles are the future. We believe the electric vehicles are the future for many reasons in which we will be stating some of them here. One of the reasons is that having an electric car can lead to saving maintenance costs. We did our research using Google Scholar and found an article in KIA Singapore`s website titled "Are electric cars cheaper to maintain?". There is a part in the article that stated "No oil to change, no gaskets to replace, no valves to clog up, electric cars do

Week 2 Submission 1a: Descriptive Reflection (Formal Introductory Letter) Subject: Self-introduction Dear Professor Brad Franklin Blackstone, My name is Shajesh Raja Naran. I am writing to you to introduce myself as one of your students in this trimester. I am currently a year 1 student from the mechanical engineering course. I graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic with a diploma in aerospace and aeronautical technology in 2021. Engineering captured my interest at a young age. I saw the world as a system and was fascinated to know how they worked. For instance, I disassembled and reassembled parts of a racing car to see its system.  Additionally, I like planes and wondered how they functioned. Hence, I took a diploma that was relevant to aerospace technology.  I decided to further expand my knowledge of engineering after attaining my diploma. Thus, I am here today at Singapore Institute of Technology majoring in mechanical engineering! I grew up realizing that I have a creative thinking
